under the age of 5.
The current mortality rate for AIDS cases in the county stands at 61%, accounting for 1,807 deaths. There is a one-month delay in compiling AIDS fatality information because this data is gathered from death certificates.
Edelman also reported the Department of Health Services will open two more AIDS testing sites before the end of April. The sites, now nearing completion, will be in the Edward R. Roybal Comprehensive Health Center, 245 S. Fetterly, East Los Angeles, and in the Ruth Temple Public Health Center, 3834 S. Western Ave. in south central Los Angeles.
• 70% of all confirmed AIDS cases in Los Angeles County are among Caucasians. Hispanics account for 15%, blacks, 14%, while 1% of the victims are from other races. Homosexual and bisexual males continue to be the largest at-risk group, with 92% of all reported AIDS cases falling into that category. Three percent of the victims are intravenous drug users, while 1% of the victims contracted the disease through heterosexual contact with a partner with AIDS.
Roberti To Deliver Keynote Address
State Senator Pro Tem, David Roberti will deliver the keynote address to the Second Annual Conference of the California Association of Lesbian and Gay Democratic Clubs (CALGDC). The Conference will be held May 1, 2, and 3, at the Beverly Plaza Hotel, in Los Angeles.
Roberti, a long-time supporter. of civil and human rights and the civil rights of lesbians and gays, joins approximately 40 other panelists, workshop facilitators and speakers for the event.
The CALGDC was formed 2-1/2 years ago to fill the need for a network association of the State's approximately ten lesbian and gay chartered Democratic clubs. The organization also encourages the development of new lesbian and gay Democratic clubs.

According to Paul Self, Co-Chair of the CALGDC, the Conference will be an exciting event. "I'm very enthused about our Second Conference. We have a number of interesting and informative panel discussions and workshops which address a number of issues of importance to lesbian and gay Democrats in our community."
Among the topics for panel discussions and workshops are: "Privacy Issues", AIDS Legislation", Lesbians and Gays in The Media", "Women's Issues", and others.
In addition, a reception is set for Friday, May 1, for members of affiliated lesbian and gay Democratic clubs. Democratic-elected officials will be saluted at a reception on Saturday, May 2. Both events will be at the Beverly Plaza.
Registration for the Conference is $10.00 for members of affiliated clubs and $20.00 for observers. Cost for Friday's reception is $15.00 and Saturday's event is $25.00. For more information, contact Paul Self at (213) 668-0916.
